Soap Project

The purpose of the SOAP Project (Save our Adolescence from Prostitution) is to create awareness and educate the public on the human trafficking problem in the Portland Metro Area.   We have scheduled the week of Friday, May 20, 2013 as our distribution date for flooding  motels, hotels and businesses  with thousands of bars of soap labeled with the Human Trafficking  Hot-Line number 1-888-3737-888.

We are asking local businesses and citizens to join the fight in STOPPING human slavery not only in our city but across the nation.  Awareness is the key.
Posters and handouts will also be distributed during this time to the Max, Amtrak and the bus station. Rotarians and other volunteers will be giving special focus to the Max platforms where there is a higher concentration of people. We are also working on possible billboard placement on I-84, 82nd Ave. and the airport.
Businesses can help by:
  • Educating employee’s
  • Volunteering personal time
  • Financial support through donations and fundraiser
  • Offer in-kind advertising support - donating media space (billboard, posters, handouts etc.)
  • Legislative support – awareness at the state level.
Update on the 2012 Campaign:
1,000’s of bars of soap were distributed to local hotels, motels and businesses during 2012.  Distribution took place over a three week period with a positive response from motel and hotel owners.  Hot-line calls increased slightly but were mainly were from public concerns on prostitution/human slavery questions.
